Laser Cutting Machine Operation Details

May 13, 2024

Laser cutting machine at work, if the failure is very dangerous, novice must be trained by professionals to operate independently, according to the experience summed up the laser cutting machine safety work of 13 details:
1. Comply with general cutting machine safety operating procedures. Start the laser in strict accordance with the laser start-up procedure.
2. The operator must be trained, familiar with the structure and performance of the equipment, and master the knowledge of the operating system.
3. According to the regulations, wear labor protection supplies, and wear protective glasses that meet the regulations near the laser beam.
4. Do not process a material before it is clear whether it can be irradiated or heated with a laser to avoid the potential danger of smoke and steam.
5. When the equipment is in operation, the operator shall not leave the post without permission or ask someone to wait for the tube. If it is really necessary to leave, the machine should stop or cut off the power switch.
6. Keep fire extinguishers within easy reach; Turn off the laser or optical brake when not processing; Do not place paper, cloth, or other flammable materials near an unprotected laser beam.
Seven. When anomalies are found in the process of processing, the machine should be shut down immediately, and the fault should be removed in time or reported to the supervisor.
8. Keep the laser, bed and the surrounding area clean, orderly, no oil, workpieces, plates, waste piled up according to regulations.
9. When using gas cylinders, the welding wires should be avoided to avoid leakage accidents. The use and transportation of gas cylinders shall comply with the supervision regulations of gas cylinders. Do not expose cylinders to sunlight or close to heat sources. When opening the bottle valve, the operator must stand on the side of the bottle mouth.
10. Follow high pressure safety procedures during maintenance. Every 40 hours of operation or weekly maintenance, every 1000 hours of operation or every six months of maintenance, in accordance with the regulations and procedures.
11. After starting the machine, the machine should be started manually at a low speed in the X and Y directions, and check whether there is any abnormal situation.
12. After the input of the new workpiece program, it should be run first and check its operation.
13. When working, pay attention to observe the operation of the machine tool, so as to avoid the cutting machine out of the effective travel range or two collision caused by accidents.
Polarization properties of laser beam. Like any other electromagnetic wave transmission, laser also has two perpendicular electric vectors and magnetic vectors, both of which are orthogonal to the laser transmission direction. It is generally believed that the direction of the electric vector is the polarization direction of the beam. Beam polarization physical properties affect the absorption of beam energy by the material. Cutting parallel to the polarization direction of the beam results in a narrow incision with a smooth, straight edge. If the cutting direction is at an Angle to the polarization plane, the energy absorption is weakened, the cutting speed is slowed, the incision is wider, and the edge is rough and out of right Angle to the material surface. Once the cutting direction is perpendicular to the polarization direction, the edge will not be rough but the cutting speed will be slower and the damage will be wider, and the cutting quality will be significantly reduced. Although this is required in principle, it is difficult to keep the cutting direction parallel to the polarization direction during multi-axis motion. To overcome this instability, a phase delay device is equipped. Studies have shown that circularly polarized light is most suitable for cutting metal. Most lasers produce light that is polarized 45 degrees in the vertical direction. The phase delayer converts this linearly polarized light into circularly polarized light. This method works well for cutting metal, but not for other materials such as plastic and wood.
Auxiliary gas selection and pressure setting. The typical pressure value when cutting thin sheet material at high speed is 150-300kpa, and the cutting of 12-thick iron plate usually only requires 40-60kpa.
Cutting speed. If the speed is too slow, the plume of Mars particles flows directly down. If the speed is too fast, the plume of Mars particles forms an acute Angle to the vertical direction and is unstable. The proper velocity is when the plume is at an obtuse Angle to the vertical direction.
Set the air pressure. The auxiliary gas pressure is controlled by numerical control machine. The correct approach is to calibrate the air pressure controller when selecting automatic mode to activate the program. After activating the program press the Cycle button and follow the on-screen prompts, the program will automatically calibrate the air pressure system.
